Corresponding Member of the NAPS of Ukraine (2010), Doctor of Psychology (2001), Professor (2002), Honored Worker of Science of Ukraine (2002), President of the Ukrainian Association of Organizational and Work Psychologists (UAOPPP), a member of the Coordinating Committee and editor of the Newsletter of the European Network of Organizational Psychologists (ENOP), a member of the Coordinating Committee of Division 1 ‘Organizational Psychology’ of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), International Association of Economic Research (IAREP) representative in Ukraine.

Born on January 23, 1956 in Vinnytsia region, Ukraine.

In 1977 she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philosophy (Department of Psychology) of Shevchenko Kiev State University.

Upon graduation she worked as a psychologist at the Dnipropetrovsk engineering plant (1977-1978) and at the Kiev Regional Psychiatric Hospital (1978-1980).

Since 1980 she has been working at G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the NAPS of Ukraine. Since 1993 she has been the head of the laboratory of Organizational Psychology and since January 2015 Deputy Director of G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the NAPS of Ukraine for scientific-organizational work and international relations.

In 1984 she defended her PhD thesis on ‘Psychological conditions for formation of high school students’ social and political interests’ (specialty - 19.00.07 - Pedagogical and Developmental Psychology) and in 2001 her doctoral thesis on ‘The Psychology of Management of Secondary Educational Institutions’ (specialty - 19.00.05 - Social Psychology).

L. Karamushka is a renowned expert in organizational and economic psychology. She has developed the concepts of and psychological foundations for educational organization management, change management, organizational development, management counseling, burnout prevention and overcoming, etc. Together with the Academician S.D. Maksymenko she introduced a new PhD and Doctoral specialty - 19.00.10 - Organizational Psychology; Economic Psychology, as well as launched the respective PhD and Doctoral courses at G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the NAPS of Ukraine (2004).

L. Karamushka was a supervisor of 42 PhD students (24 in the new specialty 19.00.10 - Organizational Psychology; Economic Psychology) and five Doctoral students. She is a founder of the Ukrainian school of organizational psychology.

She is a member of the Specialized Academic Council D.26.453.02 for doctoral theses at G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the NAPS of Ukraine and Deputy Chairman of the Specialized Scientific Council D.26.453.01. In 2001-2004 she was Scientific Secretary of the Psychological Sciences Expert Council of Ukraine (VAK).

In 2002 together with Academician S. Maksymenko she initiated the journal ‘Organizational Psychology. Economic Psychology. Social Psychology’ (41 issues have been published). L. Karamushka is a member of the editorial boards of foreign scientific journals: ‘Current Issues of Psychology, Business and Social Sector: Theory and Practice’ (Riga, Latvia) and ‘Psychological Journal’ (Minsk, Belarus).

In 2002 L. Karamushka was a founder of the Ukrainian Association of Organizational and Work Psychologists (UAOPPP) that in 2005 became a co-founding member of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) which includes more than 20 European countries.

L. Karamushka takes an active part in organizing European psychological forums. She was a Board member of the XIII-th European Congress of Organizational and Work Psychology (Stockholm, Sweden, 2007) and XVII-th European Congress of Organizational and Work Psychology (Oslo, Norway, 2015), a member of the Program Committee of the X-th European Conference on Organizational Psychology and Mental Health held under the auspices of the European Network of Organizational Psychologists (ENOP) (Kyiv, Ukraine, 2007), XIV-th European Congress of Organizational and Work Psychology (Santiago-de-Kompostela, Spain, 2009). On behalf of the Congress Program Committees she held the invited symposia ‘Current issues in organizational psychology in Ukraine’ (XXIX-th International Congress on psychology, Berlin, Germany, 2008) and ‘Team Work and its effectiveness in different Types of Organizations’ (XVIII-th International Congress of Applied Psychology, Paris, France. 2014). L. Karamushka was an initiator and a co-chairperson of the Organizing Committees of the Polish-Ukrainian seminars on topical issues of organizational psychology (Katowice, Poland, 2009, 2011) and the Ukrainian-Polish seminar on innovation management in organizations and organizational development (Kyiv, 2010), etc.

L. Karamushka was a participant and head of the following international projects: Study of Cross-Cultural Features of Managers’ Work in 47 Countries (UK, 2000 and 2001); Standardization of Education Managers’ Work and Training (Netherlands, 2002- 2003); Development and Implementation of Distance Learning Models in Organizational and Work Psychology (Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, 2001-2002.); Burnout Prevention and Management and Career Making by Women and Men in Secondary Schools (Canadian-Ukrainian Gender Fund, 2003- 2004); Ethno-National Identity Study (INTAS project, 2004-2006); Equal Access to Quality Education sponsored by the World Bank and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine (2007-2009).

L. Karamushka received training at the School of Educational Management at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands, 2002). In March-June 2010 at the invitation of the European Commission she taught organizational psychology courses under the Erasmus Mundus program at Descartes University, Paris-5 (France) and the University of Valencia (Spain).

L. Karamushka was awarded State and Ministry of Education and Sciences (MES) of Ukraine awards ‘For Excellence in Education of Ukraine’ (2001), ‘Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine’ (2002), ‘For Scientific Achievements’ (2006) as ell as diplomas of honor from the NAPS and MES of Ukraine, ‘K.D. Ushinsky’ medal of the NAPS of Ukraine (2011), and ‘O.A. Zakharchenko’ badge of the MES of Ukraine (2012).

Her research interests include psychological characteristics of organizations’ activities, organizational change management, team building in organizations, job stress and burnout management, psychological foundations of organizational culture, methodological basis for training programs development and organizational counseling.

L. Karamushka has 878 published works, including 10 books, 25 educational and teaching aids, 15 training courses, 22 books of recommendations, 450 articles etc.
