“Global Union of Scientists for Peace” mission in Ukraine
From May 12 to 19 2015 Acad. Sergiy Maksymenko, Director of G.S. Kostyuk Institute of Psychology, visited the United States of America at the invitation of The Global Union of Scientists for Peace.
The Global Union of Scientists for Peace is an international organization with offices in more than 100 countries (USA, India, Egypt, Mexico, South Africa, Hungary, etc.). The mission of this organization is stopping the spread and threat of weapons of mass destruction and promotion of alternative, science-based peaceful means of conflict resolution to achieve national harmony and security. President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace is John Hagelin, quantum physicist, Kilby prize winner, Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy (USA).
Given his contributions to the development of psychological science nationally and internationally and his social activities, the International Council of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace offered Sergiy Maksimenko to take the post of President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace in Ukraine.
When in the United States, Segiy Maksymenko visited the University of Iowa, Maharishi University of Management and other educational and public organizations and met a number of prominent scientists and discussed different aspects and methods of psychological help, in particular transcendental meditation techniques, given to trauma victims in Ukraine, including servicemen who took part in combat actions in the east of Ukraine, their families, as well as internal migrants.
It was decided to develop a special international program to give psychological help to anti-terrorist operation veterans and their families as well as internal migrants based on the relevant experience of the Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
